In the pop-up window, select your printer and click the Add button in the bottom-right corner. Note: If there are no printer options, you will need to select Add Printer or Nearby Printers. You will see this drop-down menu in the top-right corner of the pop-up window next to Pinter. Then choose your printer from the pop-up window.This keyboard shortcut will work in any application that lets you print.
Note: You can also hit the Command + P keys on your keyboard at the same time to skip the last two steps.
Next, click Print at the bottom of the drop-down menu. You will see this in the top-left corner of your screen next to the Apple icon. Then click File in the Apple Menu Bar. Open the document or web page you want to print on your Mac. Then choose your printer from the drop-down menu at the top of the pop-up window and select Print. I´ve also tried updating MacOS version/release/patch, reinstalling the printer driver (remove and re-add the printer in Settings), resetting the printing system and restarting both the Mac and the printer several times, so that´s not the issue.To print a document or web page on a Mac, you can either click File > Print from the Apple Menu Bar or use the Command + P keyboard shortcut. This only happen with certain PDFs, but not all. I can also print it if I open it with Safari, most of the times. document and print the Pages document instead. I can print any other kind of documents without issues and I can even get to print the problematic PDF if I copy every of its PDF pages to a Mac Pages App. I´m not using the "AirPrint" or "Secure AirPrint" drivers because I´ve had even worst issues with these before, and I always use the "HP ColorLaserJet MFP M278-M281" one instead as suggested in other threads in the forum. When checking the Message Center from the Printer Utility it shows no errors or warnings. The document is sent to the printer and the printer shows a "Printing document." message on its screen but won´t start printing. (default SW to open PDF documents on a Mac). There are some PDF documents that won´t print when opened with the MacOS Preview App. 
Just in case, versions of MacOS or HP LaserJet models are not relevant to this issue since I´ve had the same problem with the latest 3 versions of MacOS, and at least 2 completely different HP Color LaserJet Wifi printer models bought in different countries, so it seems to be related to the Printer driver or PDF document that have been generated a certain way.
